Places Along the Way explores the process of becoming intimate with an unknown place.
For the past decade, I have regularly made the trip from Los Angeles to my small hometown in Northern California. The 600-mile drive through mostly rural California was tedious, and the same landmarks would catch my attention time and time again. As I passed them, I felt a sense of comfort and familiarity, like they were part of home itself. Photographed on medium format film, each image is a place that I became familiar with throughout the years. The places along the way became part of going home.
